Rider Information
We provide free, safe, door to door rides to wherever you need to go in Sausalito! Living here can be both beautiful and difficult - public transit can be tough to access and our hills are often dangerous to walk. Our CARSS Drivers are local volunteers that want to give you the freedom of getting around town and enjoying our independence. Passengers must be age 60 or older and residents of Sausalito or the Floating Homes.
Due to the current increase in Covid variants, we will continue to provide CARSS Errands performed by the Volunteers on Duty as an alternative to rides.

Community Events
CARSS hosts monthly luncheon events for volunteers and passengers to promote fun, support our restaurants and celebrate our community in Sausalito.
Lunches take place at local Sausalito restaurants that have agreed to allow our residents to pay with separate checks. We’ve even had some lunches at Smitty’s, where we’ve taken over the juke-box and had some real fun!
The CARSS program is a City of Sausalito Age Friendly Program managed by Sausalito Village, an organization focused on promoting friendship and independence for the senior residents of Sausalito. To learn more about Sausalito Village membership and mission, please Click Here.
